ROOM 406 UPDATEAUGUST 24, 2018 Our class is off to a great start this school year! Your children are enthusiastic and a joy to have in class. Thank you for all of the classroom supply donations. This is greatly appreciated.
Snack Time At Back to School Night, I mentioned the possibility of having different families send in snacks for the entire class on different weeks throughout the school year. Not enough parents were interested in doing this, and it has come to my attention that we have some food allergies and restrictions in our class. Because of this, I will be asking each of you to send your own child a daily healthy snack (no candy, cookies, or chips) each day. You may send a package for the week to be kept in your child’s cubby if this is easier on Mondays, or you may send in something daily. Since we have a long afternoon after an early lunch, we will have snack in the middle of the afternoon. Please start sending a snack for your child on Monday.
Remind Remind is the messaging app that I will use to send home important class information. If you have not already signed up, then please do so as soon as possible. Directions on how to do this were sent home, but if you need another copy, then please let me know. You can also click visit https://www.remind.com/join/aeh92g6.
Rotations Each day the children will be going to one of the five first-grade teachers for a 30 minute class in English Language Development, Reading Intervention, or Reading Enrichment depending on his or her needs as determined by assessments given in Reading and English Language Learning. This program will begin on Monday, August 27th.
September Field Trip/ Chaperones Needed On September 25th, we will be going to the McCallum Theater in Palm Desert to see Chinese Warriors of Peking. We will leave school at 10:10 a.m. Students will need a snack and a sack lunch that day. Please let me know if you won’t be packing a lunch for your child and need a lunch prepared by the cafeteria. Volunteers have to apply to volunteer for the school year on www.psusd.us or visit the link under "Our Class" and "Volunteers". This process does take some time, so please do this soon in order to be cleared in time to go on this field trip if you are interested.
